And there she goes!

From that little Under9 athlete, to so many Regional and State Championships I lost count, to TeamVIC State Representation to Australian National Representative duties, and now off to Texas State on Scholarship as a 400m Hurdle National Champ and incredible student.

As a Coach, you always want the best for your athletes, every now and then you come across a human that changes you for the better in that process. Personally I have been blessed, I have a number of them touched my life in the last two decades, none more so than this young woman.

Siena has been an outstanding athlete, an unbelievably incredible student at Caulfield Grammar, being School Captain, but the human that she has always been, that is what spikes my emotion the most. Siena is the role model I have for my own daughter.

Coaches enter the family life of great athletes, it's not our target, it just happens that way, we are entrusted with some critical development of the most cherished part of any parents' life. That carries a huge responsibility. I am thankful that families trust me to do that.

Now that it is time to say goodbye to Siena as she spreads her wings in the USA, I am filled with joy, admiration, pride and sadness.

I cannot wait to see what this awesome young woman does next.

Thank you for being you Siena. Thank you to your parents Chris and Lorraine and your brother Aidan, the four of you have made an indelible mark on my life.

Go fast kid.
